People’s Finance Network, April 2—Local time on April 1, Iranian President Pezeshkian published an open letter to the American people. In the letter, Pezeshkian said that the Iranian people harbor no hostility toward other countries, including people in the Americas, Europe, or neighboring countries. He added that the United States has amassed large numbers of military bases and military forces around Iran, creating a military threat to Iran. What Iran has taken—and will continue to take—is a response grounded in the right of lawful self-defense; it is absolutely not about starting a war or invading. Pezeshkian also said that the destructive impact of sanctions, war, and aggression on the lives of the Iranian people must not be underestimated, and that attacks on Iran’s critical infrastructure— including energy and industrial facilities—constitute war crimes. Pezeshkian further questioned whether the United States’ current policies truly align with the core interests of “America First.” He said that the United States has effectively become Israel’s proxy, carrying out strikes against Iran, and that its policies are heavily influenced by and manipulated by the Israeli regime; meanwhile, Israel is trying to divert global society’s attention from the crimes it has committed in Palestine by deliberately creating a “Iran threat” narrative.
