Abstract generation in progress

Today (March 5), our country’s largest coalbed methane and shale gas field in Shanxi—the Daji Gas Field—has surpassed an annual production capacity of 4 billion cubic meters, becoming an important replacement resource for growth in China’s natural gas output. Coalbed methane and shale gas is an unconventional natural gas resource that is either adsorbed or freely present in deep underground coal seams. It is typically buried at depths greater than 1,500 meters, with broad prospects for exploration and development. China’s first coalbed methane and shale gas demonstration zone project—the Daji Gas Field—is located in the southwestern part of Shanxi Province. Since this year began, the Daji Gas Field has drilled 16 new wells, built 250 million cubic meters of new production capacity, and pushed the field’s daily gas output to exceed 11 million cubic meters, up 32% year over year.
