In the evening of the 1st according to Eastern Time in the United States, NASA’s new lunar rocket, the “Space Launch System,” launched from Launch Complex 39B at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to carry out the “Artemis 2” crewed mission to fly around the Moon. This is the first time the United States has sent astronauts to the Moon since 1972.

At about 18:35 p.m. that day Eastern Time (about 6:35 a.m. on the 2nd Beijing Time), the “Space Launch System” carrying the “Orion” spacecraft lifted off from Launch Complex 39B at the Kennedy Space Center. It carried four astronauts on a 10-day mission.

The mission will test the operation of various systems on the spacecraft, verify key technologies that support crewed exploration missions, and lay the groundwork for subsequent crewed lunar landing and deep-space exploration missions.
