Mastercard, like its rival Visa, has been testing live agentic payments in different markets around the world, from Australia to India to Latin America.

Now it has carried out its first transaction in Hong Kong, working with HSBC and DBS to demonstrate how AI can help people complete everyday tasks securely and seamlessly, from transportation to lifestyle services.

An AI agent booked a ride to Hong Kong International Airport through hoppa, a global mobility provider. The booking and agentic transaction was facilitated by CardInfoLink’s AI agent, which connects to hoppa’s taxi and airport limousine network.

"This first live agentic transaction shows how AI, powered by Mastercard Agent Pay, can simplify travel while keeping every payment safe,” says Helena Chen, SVP and GM, Hong Kong & Macau, Mastercard.
