IT Home reports on February 27 that OpenAI today issued an announcement, saying it completed a new round of financing with a pre-money valuation of $73 billion, including $110 billion (IT Home note: at the current exchange rate, about 753.76 billion yuan RMB). This round includes $30 billion from SoftBank, $30 billion from Nvidia, and $50 billion from Amazon.

In addition, OpenAI has also signed a new strategic partnership agreement with Amazon, and received assurances from Nvidia regarding next-generation inference computing power. OpenAI said that as the financing process progresses, it expects more financial investors to join.

According to the report, ChatGPT is the starting point for the public to experience AI. It currently has more than 900 million weekly active users, and its consumer subscription users have exceeded 50 million. Since the beginning of the year, subscription user growth has accelerated significantly, and January to February is expected to become the month with the highest number of new subscribers in its history.

OpenAI said that the valuation increase brought about by this round of financing raises the value of the OpenAI Foundation’s holdings of shares in the OpenAI group to more than $180 billion (at the current exchange rate, about 1.23 trillion yuan RMB), further strengthening one of the best-resourced nonprofit organizations in history, and expanding its ability to fund charitable causes in areas such as health breakthroughs and AI resilience.

Today, OpenAI announced an expansion of its long-term cooperation with Nvidia, including using 3 gigawatts of dedicated inference computing power, and running 2 gigawatts of training computing power on the Vera Rubin system. This cooperation is built on the Hopper and Blackwell systems that have already been deployed on Microsoft, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and CoreWeave.
