Saudi industry figures send cooperation signals to Chinese companies in Zhongguancun
China News Service, Beijing, March 29 (Reporter Su Jingxin) — On March 29 at the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum annual conference, Samir S. Shaysiri, Deputy General Manager for Industrial Clusters Empowerment at the former Saudi Center for Industrial Development and currently CEO of the Industrial Base Company, said that China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” are not only parallel strategies, but also perfectly aligned.
Shaysiri attended the “China–BRICS Countries Technology Transfer Going Abroad Cooperation Matchmaking Session” that day. In his remarks, he first thanked the Chinese side for its efforts to promote bilateral technology transfer and overseas cooperation. He noted that Saudi Arabia is currently in a stage of economic structural transformation, with sustained growth in its non-oil economy. For Chinese companies, this stage is not only an investment opportunity, but also a chance to participate in building industrial systems.
With regard to investment opportunities for Chinese companies in Saudi Arabia, Shaysiri highlighted three strategic areas.
In the fields of advanced manufacturing and new energy vehicles, he said that Saudi Arabia is building a global mobility industry ecosystem, and China’s advantages in the electric vehicle supply chain fully match Saudi Arabia’s needs for localized production and the construction of an industrial ecosystem.
In the fields of the digital economy and artificial intelligence, he pointed out that Saudi Arabia is moving from pilot projects to real-world applications of AI, and is investing heavily in smart cities and cloud infrastructure. “And cities in China such as Beijing and Hangzhou are at the world-leading level in these areas, with enormous room for cooperation.”
In the fields of healthcare, biotechnology, and genomics, Shaysiri introduced that Saudi Arabia’s genomics program is drawing up a national genomics blueprint to enable personalized diagnosis and treatment. And China’s world-class expertise in gene sequencing, gene therapy, and biological manufacturing provides broad cooperation space for both sides in scientific research collaboration, diagnostic technologies, and the localization of gene therapy.
Shaysiri said that what Saudi Arabia is building is not just a cooperation relationship, but a complete industrial ecosystem. At the end of his remarks, he said in Chinese: “Let’s join hands to create the future together.”
