On April 2, French Navy Chief of Staff Nicolas Vaujour stated on April 1 that France is working to convene multiple countries at the ‘political level’ to discuss how to reopen the Hormuz Strait in a ‘sustainable manner.’ Vaujour made these remarks during the ‘War and Peace’ forum held in Paris, adding that this initiative will also involve ‘military oversight’ of the reopening of the Hormuz Strait. Alice Rufo, a representative from the French Ministry of Defense, stated at the forum that NATO’s role is not applicable to conducting military actions in the Hormuz Strait. According to news from the UK on April 1, U.S. President Trump is ‘seriously considering’ withdrawing the U.S. from NATO after NATO allies refused to assist in actions against Iran. (CCTV)
