People’s Finance and News March 31 report: On March 31 local time, Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd. issued an announcement stating that, due to the continuing tense situation in the Middle East, oil prices have surged sharply, the won to U.S. dollar exchange rate has fallen dramatically, and Korean Air will begin activating an emergency management mechanism starting in April. The airline will implement response measures in stages based on oil price levels to ensure overall cost effectiveness. Korean Air is the third airline in South Korea to launch an emergency management mechanism, following T’way Air and Asiana Airlines. On March 16, T’way Air announced it would launch an emergency management mechanism; on the 25th, Asiana Airlines, the second-largest airline in South Korea, announced it would launch an emergency management mechanism. Meanwhile, low-cost airlines such as Busan Air and Jin Air will reduce the number of flights starting in April to reduce losses. (CCTV News)
