People’s Finance News, March 26—It was reported by a reporter that in the early hours of March 26 local time, the chairman of the Civil Commission of Iran’s Islamic Parliament said, “We are seeking a bill that can both lawfully uphold Iran’s sovereignty, right of control, and regulatory authority over the Strait of Hormuz, and also generate revenue for the country by charging passage fees.”

It is understood that a draft of the bill has already been prepared, but it has not yet reached the stage of a complete proposal. It will be submitted next week to the Parliamentary Research Center for refinement with the participation of the legal team, and then submitted and followed up after the Parliament holds a meeting. Under this bill, Iran will levy passage fees on vessels transiting through the Strait of Hormuz.
