A product launch event: five major products hit the market at once, with 9 major benefits and commitments laid out. Coinciding with its 35th anniversary, FAW-Volkswagen, in the current car-making era full of uncertainties, shows its industry-join background and sense of responsibility through a “backstop.”

On March 31, FAW-Volkswagen’s Spring New Product Launch was officially held. The all-new Sagitar S, the all-new Tharu (L) / Langxun? (Note: keep original names as-is) and the Magotan 35th Anniversary Selected Edition were officially launched. The Magotan PHEV and the Tano (L) PHEV also made their debut. The five models cover mainstream segments such as gasoline and plug-in hybrid, as well as sedans and SUVs. At the same time, FAW-Volkswagen also rolled out its exclusive commitment “Volkswagen Select, 9 Years of Companionship,” with the nine benefits of “three responsibilities, three lifetimes, and three freebies,” covering the entire vehicle ownership lifecycle for customers.

“This is an era when a new concept is on every feed every day, and new species debut every month. There are more options for buying a car today, but there’s less peace of mind. FAW-Volkswagen understands that cars are absolutely not fast-moving consumer goods, and it can’t take users out for test drives as a trial. In an era full of uncertainties, consumers are even more eager for a solid sense of certainty that only a big automaker can provide.” Wang Shengli, Deputy General Manager (Business) of FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd., Party Secretary and General Manager of FAW-Volkswagen Sales Co., Ltd., said that FAW-Volkswagen’s sense of certainty comes from its willingness to take great responsibility. A big company’s pace stays up to date, but its determination to back everyone up will never change.

All-new Sagitar S launched with prices starting from 79,800 yuan; five products released at once

Rooted in 35 years of manufacturing know-how, FAW-Volkswagen’s five new cars from its four star families—Sagitar, Magotan, Tano (Teque?) and the two-L? (keep original as-is)—were launched in a coordinated push, accelerating the implementation of its strategy of “advancing together on oil and electricity with full intelligence,” bringing customers more diverse travel choices.

One detail is telling: at the new car launch, Wang Shenghua, Executive Deputy General Manager of FAW-Volkswagen Sales Co., Ltd. and Executive Director of the Volkswagen brand, changed two coats back-to-back—moving from a suit to a jacket, and then to an expedition jacket—each aligning with the product temperament of the Sagitar S, the Magotan, and the Tano L double PHEVs, as well as the Langxun. It shows how much thought went into it.

Since entering the China market in 2006, the Sagitar has gone through four generations of evolution, earning 4.5 million people’s trust, and has become a phenomenon-level model that has been best-selling for 20 years and still sells 20,000+ units per month to this day. At the launch event, the Sagitar family’s new member, the all-new Sagitar S, was launched with prices starting from 79,800 yuan. It combines full-spectrum strength with “German, intellect, body, and beauty.”

People outside may not be surprised that the Sagitar S is priced under 100,000 yuan. But when Sheng Yinhua called out a starting price of 79,800 yuan, it still sparked cheers across the venue. The reason is that this A+ segment product not only has a lower starting price than the gasoline-car representative Lavida Ruiyi, but also directly cuts into the price territory of new energy models such as BYD Qin PLUS. It’s clearly intended to consolidate its position in the A-segment market.

Meanwhile, the all-new Langxun, promoted as a “hardcore, roaring five-seat SUV,” was launched with a price range of 246,900 to 266,900 yuan. It has a “super-wide body, commanding presence” hard-core aura, the roaring power delivered by a 2.0T engine, the spaciousness created by the “king of five-seat space and the widest bed room,” and also fuel-powered end-to-end highway guidance NOA. In addition, the Magotan PHEV and the Tano L PHEV made their debut and will be launched in the second quarter of this year.

This year also marks FAW-Volkswagen’s 35th anniversary, and multiple 35th-anniversary commemorative models will be introduced one after another within the year. Among them, the Magotan 35th Anniversary Selected Edition arrives with a hefty price tag of 179,900 yuan and is equipped with features such as a 15-inch central control screen, a passenger entertainment screen, and a 360° panoramic view image system.

Sheng Yinhua said that FAW-Volkswagen launched five cars at once—from a gasoline benchmark to a new-energy pioneer, from quality sedans to a capable SUV—forming a full-category lineup assembled in a major show, fulfilling all people’s aspirations for every kind of journey in one go. This is a firm implementation of the strategy of “advancing together on oil and electricity with full intelligence,” and it is also FAW-Volkswagen’s solemn response to the times and its users after 35 years of accumulation.

Deeply cultivated for 35 years to forge quality; “nine commitments” to back up uncertainty

“In FAW-Volkswagen’s view, what users take away is not just a steel machine, but a solemn contract that has been honored over many years,” Wang Shengli said. “We know everyone’s concerns: worries that the battery may have hidden hazards, worries that if the warranty expires it’ll be hard to repair, worries that after-sales service will be too much trouble. FAW-Volkswagen gives you a backstop and officially launches its exclusive commitment ‘Volkswagen Select, 9 Years of Companionship.’”

According to the introduction, the newly launched PHEV models enjoy the “three responsibilities” service. If a self-ignition occurs or battery degradation exceeds allowable limits due to the quality of the three-electrical components, or if there is a problem with the quality of the powertrain, the manufacturer bears full responsibility. In extreme cases, the new vehicle and the battery will be replaced free of charge. Gasoline SUVs enjoy the “three lifetimes” benefits: lifetime vehicle warranty, lifetime roadside assistance, and lifetime warranty for original equipment parts. The whole lineup can enjoy the “three freebies” services: during repairs, a free car for getting around, pick-up and drop-off service at the customer’s home, and a vehicle health check.

Behind FAW-Volkswagen’s willingness to deliver the “nine commitments” lies its craftsmanship and commitment to quality that have remained consistent for 35 years. From solid materials to精湛 craftsmanship, from stringent testing to full-cycle services, FAW-Volkswagen brings the “Volkswagen Select” standard that can’t be seen into every step of vehicle making and service delivery, using hard-core strength to reinforce the brand’s foundation.

According to Deng Guohui, Director of Technology Development at FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd., in terms of materials, FAW-Volkswagen only uses German-grade hard items that can withstand crashes and endure creation. The thickness of the vehicle body panels and the proportion of high-strength steel are high, and the company builds “steel backbone” for customers through a cage-style body structure. In the interior, it selects environmentally friendly, low-emission materials; the cabin’s healthy “soft power” is also fully maximized.

In manufacturing, FAW-Volkswagen uses 9,100-ton servo press lines to comprehensively enhance accuracy and stability of vehicle body dimensions. It adopts laser welding technology, with nearly 15 meters of welding per vehicle. It also applies the cavity wax injection anti-corrosion process on a relatively early basis and at large scale in China, providing a 12-year long-term anti-corrosion commitment.

From the Jetta to the Bora, then to the Golf, Sagitar, Magotan, and CC; then to Tanyue, Tano, the ID series, the Tanu? (keep original as-is), and the Langxun—when you see generation after generation of products on stage one after another under its banner, you can see the brilliance FAW-Volkswagen has achieved through 35 years of deep cultivation. The accompanying footnote of cumulative sales exceeding 30 million units also makes it plainly a mark of the times.

“FAW-Volkswagen will keep putting hard work into places you can’t see, and do right by building cars with a conscience. We adhere to the idea that slow is fast—follow the rules, and make classics for the era. We adhere to doing difficult but correct things—take the lead and provide steadfast guidance. We adhere to treating users as family. We don’t chase fleeting fireworks; instead, we choose to be friends of time. FAW-Volkswagen is not only a maker of cars like Volkswagen, but also a Volkswagen that stays by the side of every member of the大众.” Wang Shengli said. (Reporter Jiang Zhiwen, China Economic Net)
