A gold mine in South Sudan was attacked, with at least 74 people killed.

People’s Finance News, March 30—A spokesperson for South Sudan’s National Police Service, Armandohe, said on the 30th that a gold mine in South Sudan’s Central Equatoria State was attacked by unidentified armed personnel on the night of the 28th, resulting in at least 74 civilian deaths and multiple people missing. Armandohe said the attack took place in the Jebelle Irak gold mine area in Central Equatoria State, and all the victims were civilians carrying out gold-mining activities in the area. Armandohe said that the police and the Sudan People’s Defense Forces have been deployed to the area where the incident occurred to carry out patrol and search-and-rescue operations.
