Israeli opposition parties criticize the government for multi-front operations; senior officials say the IDF is under severe pressure
Israeli opposition leader Lapid on the 26th accused the government of simultaneously advancing military operations on multiple fronts, leading to a shortage of troops and pushing the country toward a “security disaster.” Previously, IDF Chief of the General Staff Zamir had warned that the army was heading toward internal collapse. In a televised speech on the 26th, Lapid, leader of the opposition Yesh Atid party and a former prime minister, stated that the government was involving the military in multi-front operations without a clear strategy and with severe troop shortages, placing excessive pressure on the Israeli Defense Forces. He also pointed out that the current situation is weakening the country’s ability to defend and secure national security, pushing the nation toward a “security disaster.” According to a report by Israel’s i24 News on the 26th, Zamir had warned during a security cabinet meeting on the 25th that under sustained operational pressure, the military was “heading toward internal collapse,” and he even said he “issued ten warnings.” The report noted that the Israeli military is currently conducting operations on multiple fronts, including the Gaza Strip and northern Israel, and that the long-term mobilization of reserve forces continues to exert pressure on its manpower.
