Constellation Energy Corporation has announced an agreement to sell approximately 4.4 gigawatts of PJM generation assets, predominantly natural gas-fired, to LS Power Equity Advisors, LLC for $5 billion. This sale is a crucial step towards fulfilling regulatory requirements set by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission following Constellation’s acquisition of Calpine. The transaction, pending regulatory approvals, aims to resolve antitrust concerns and streamline Constellation’s post-acquisition operations while expanding LS Power’s footprint in the PJM market.
