On the eve of the launch of Tesla’s brand-new Roadster supercar, it has cleared the filing for a new patent that reveals an even more advanced steer-by-wire steering system.

According to the description of the U.S. patent application published on March 19, “without sacrificing low-speed usability, it enables an F1-level ultra-fast steering ratio when driving at high speeds.”

In fact, the steering system adopts a steer-by-wire technology similar to that used in the pickup Cybertruck, but its steering angle is no longer limited to 170°; instead, it enables 340° of rotation.

In short, the system will deliver steering feel that is closer to a traditional steering wheel, while also having all the advantages of steer-by-wire steering.

In addition, it can also generate force feedback, simulating road feedback at different speeds.

Based on Musk’s recent disclosures, the new Roadster will be officially unveiled to the public in late April.

At that time, it will bring—exactly as Musk said—some more jaw-dropping new technologies. For now, we can only wait a little longer.
