On March 30, Fed Chair Jerome Powell will attend a public event and participate in a live Q&A session at 10:30 PM Beijing time. Against the backdrop of ongoing tensions in the Middle East and increased market volatility, this event is expected to be one of the most noteworthy items on the agenda, alongside closely monitoring U.S.-Iran headline risks. This speech is also regarded as one of the most anticipated macro events of the week. Additionally, Powell’s term as Fed Chair will officially end on May 15. During a press conference following the March policy meeting, he stated that if his nominated successor, Kevin Warsh, has not been confirmed by the Senate by then, he will serve as acting chair. He also emphasized that he would never resign from his position as a Fed governor until the Department of Justice’s investigation is thoroughly concluded, a position that will last until January 2028.
