People at home and abroad jointly explore opportunities for green and low-carbon development practices in Macau
The 2026 Macao International Forum on Environmental Protection Cooperation and Development and the Exhibition will open on the 26th at the Venetian Macao, where environmental protection experts and scholars from across China and from abroad, along with industry professionals, will come together to explore practical approaches to green and low-carbon development and cooperation opportunities. The conference, themed “Low-Carbon and Zero-Waste Cities—Global Collaboration Sets Sail,” will include a range of activities. Among them, the “Green Exhibition” has attracted more than 350 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions worldwide; it is industry-oriented and includes a “Zero-Waste Circular Economy Zone,” a “Green Transportation Zone,” and a “Green Low-Carbon Projects Zone,” showcasing over 500 green technology innovation achievements and technical solutions. The “Green Forum,” meanwhile, covers four special-issue forum sessions, building a platform for sharing cutting-edge environmental information. In his opening remarks at the ceremony, Dai Jianye, Director of the Economic and Financial Affairs Department of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, said that global ecological environment and climate change issues are becoming increasingly prominent. The Macao SAR government will use the “three-five” plan as a starting point, proactively align with China’s “15th Five-Year Plan,” and, guided by the “Macao Long-Term Carbon Reduction Strategy” and the “Macao Environmental Protection Plan (2026-2030),” which will be completed and finalized within this year, place “carbon reduction” and “pollution reduction” at the core of planning and environmental work. It will pragmatically advance green transition and respond to the country’s overall plan for building a beautiful China. (Xinhua News Agency)
