Odaily Planet Daily reports that on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with the New York Post that Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Ali Karroubi, is one of the Iranian officials who has been in communication with the United States regarding ending the war. When asked whether it is possible to trust Karroubi in terms of cooperating with Washington, Trump replied, “We’ll see.” He also said that about a week from now, he would tell you more details. On Sunday, Trump told the Financial Times that Karroubi had authorized allowing tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump interpreted this move as a sign that Karroubi is willing to make concessions in order to reach an agreement to end the war. Karroubi denied having held any talks with the United States, but experts said he is a hardliner who has the qualifications to reach a deal. According to The Wall Street Journal, Karroubi is one of two Iranian officials whom the United States and Israel have temporarily removed from their “death list.” (Jin10)
