Odaily Planet Daily News: On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump, in an interview with the New York Post, said that the speaker of Iran’s parliament, Kalibaf, is one of the Iranian officials who has been in communication with the United States regarding how to end the war. When asked whether he could be trusted in cooperating with Washington, Trump replied, “We’ll wait and see.” He also said, “In about a week, I’ll tell you the details.” On Sunday, Trump told the Financial Times that Kalibaf had authorized allowing tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump interpreted this move as Kalibaf being willing to make concessions in order to reach an agreement to end the war. Kalibaf denied having any negotiations with the United States, but experts say that he is a hardliner who has the qualifications to reach a deal. According to the Wall Street Journal, Kalibaf is one of two Iranian officials whom the United States and Israel have temporarily removed from their “death list.” (Jin10)
