I almost lost money because of “a slightly lower price” — and here’s how they lure you into a P2P trap

📌 💸 Just because it’s 50–100 VND/USDT cheaper… I almost lost all my money
👉 And many Vietnamese people are caught in this trap
That day I went to Gate.io to buy USDT as usual.
Browsing the list of sellers…
👉 I saw a merchant with a slightly better price
1: “Reasonably suspicious” price
This isn’t an unusually cheap deal ❌
But:
👉 cheap enough to make you suspicious
2: Payment is “split into parts”
After placing the order, the seller messages:
“Please help me transfer in 2–3 installments”
“My bank is currently limited”
Sounds very reasonable.
In Vietnam, account limits are common.
👉 And this is exactly the trap.
👉 And I chose them
the receiving account changes
After I completed the first transfer…
They send another message: “Please transfer the remaining amount to this account”
👉 A DIFFERENT account
❗ This is when things start to get dangerous
If you continue:
👉 You will: transfer money to different people and lose control of the flow
🧠 What I realized
I stopped and checked: the account name doesn’t match, it’s different from the initial info, the transaction is unusually split. And most importantly: I’m no longer sure who I’m dealing with
🚨 The worst-case scenario
If you continue:
Some of the money could be linked to risky accounts involved in dirty funds
👉 The result:
❌ You could lose money
❌ Or have your bank lock your account
❗ Why is this trap dangerous?
👉 Because it’s NOT like a scam
Everything seems reasonable and gentle, without pressure, but you’re being “guided step by step”
🛡️ Survival rule
✅ 1. DO NOT split payments unless necessary, 1 order = 1 clear transaction
✅ 2. ONLY transfer to one account. If it changes = stop immediately
✅ 3. If it looks “unusually complicated” = there’s a problem
✅ 4. Don’t risk just because it’s a little cheaper. Scams often start with “small gains”
📌 If you remember only 1 thing
👉 The simpler the transaction → the safer
👉 The more “exceptional” the transaction → the more dangerous
✅ Conclusion
P2P isn’t dangerous, but it’s only safe if you don’t break its rules
