On March 29, local time, according to information from the U.S., two U.S. military officials said that several hundred U.S. special operations forces members have arrived in the Middle East and have joined up with thousands of Marines and Army paratroopers.
These special operations personnel include Army Rangers and Navy SEALs. They have not yet been assigned specific missions. According to information available, the total number of U.S. troops currently stationed in the Middle East has exceeded 50,000, which is an increase of about 10,000 compared with normal levels.
Last week, the U.S. Department of Defense also ordered about 2,000 soldiers from the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division to be deployed to the Middle East. A military official said these airborne troops will be positioned within a distance range that would allow them to carry out strikes against Iran, and they could potentially be used for actions targeting Halq Island.
