National Energy Administration: Total electricity consumption across society increased by 6.1% year-on-year in January-February of this year.

On March 17, the National Energy Administration released data on total electricity consumption by the whole of society for January to February and other figures. From January to February, total electricity consumption by the whole society accumulated to 16,546 billion kilowatt-hours, up 6.1% year over year. By sector, electricity consumption in the primary industry was 22.3 billion kilowatt-hours, up 7.4%. Electricity consumption in the secondary industry was 10,279 billion kilowatt-hours, up 6.3%, including: industrial electricity consumption up 6.4% year over year, and electricity consumption in high-tech and equipment manufacturing industries up 10.6% year over year. Electricity consumption in the tertiary industry was 3,231 billion kilowatt-hours, up 8.3%, including electricity consumption growth rates for charging and swapping service industries and for internet data service industries reaching 55.1% and 46.2%, respectively. Residential electricity consumption in urban and rural areas was 2,813 billion kilowatt-hours, up 2.7%.
