In the early trading session on March 30, the Korean and Japanese stock markets opened significantly lower. By 8:10 a.m., the Korea KOSPI index was down more than 4%. During the day, it once fell more than 5%. The Nikkei 225 index fell more than 5% and was at 50,650 points.
Among constituent stocks, Advantest was down nearly 4%, Tokyo Electron was down more than 3%, Mitsubishi Electric was down 2.22%, and SoftBank Group was up more than 3%.
International oil prices jumped in the early session. As of 8:08 a.m. Beijing time, both NYMEX crude oil and Brent crude rose by more than 3%. NYMEX crude oil was $102.92 per barrel, and Brent crude oil was $108.46 per barrel.
Spot gold briefly fell below $4,420 per ounce. As of the time of publication, the decline had narrowed to 1%, at $4,450 per ounce. Spot silver was down more than 1%, at $68.8 per ounce.
All three major U.S. stock index futures fell collectively, with the Nasdaq futures index down about 0.9% at present.
