According to the State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company, the construction of the Beijing power grid has pressed the “fast forward” button, with 83 infrastructure projects fully resuming work and production in the first quarter of 2026.

“We adhere to stable resumption of work, rapid commencement, strong guarantees, strictly control the resumption process, solidify the safety foundation, break down tasks item by item, coordinate material supply and finance collaboration, and ensure that all grid projects that should resume and start do so in the first quarter, making every effort to achieve a ‘good start’ for grid investment this year,” said Zou Yu, Director of the Construction Department of the State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company.

The year 2026 marks the beginning of the “14th Five-Year Plan.” The State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company continues to enhance the complementary and resilient levels of the power grid by vigorously implementing multiple infrastructure projects such as “3 100s,” summer peak and winter readiness, and livelihood projects, fully supporting major projects and the layout of high-tech industries in Beijing, aiding the coordinated development of energy in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and actively serving the electricity needs of residents.

The 500 kV transformer and substation project in Beijing Huairou Science City officially started construction in March 2024 and will establish Beijing’s first indoor, steel structure 500 kV hub substation. Mechanized construction is one of its highlights. “By deeply integrating prefabricated construction with mechanized construction, we ensure project quality and construction safety while reducing on-site wet operations and construction waste emissions, achieving quality improvement and efficiency, as well as green and low-carbon outcomes,” introduced Wang Tao, Project Manager of Beijing Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd.

In addition to the 500 kV transformer and substation project in Huairou Science City, the Luoshan 220 kV, Yongsheng 110 kV, and Chenggezhuang 110 kV transformer and substation projects have also resumed work. Furthermore, multiple key power grid projects are being advanced simultaneously.

In 2026, the State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company will coordinate the advancement of 111 transformer and substation projects, including the 500 kV Fengtai and 220 kV Intelligent Manufacturing projects. During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, the State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company will focus on the leap in power grid construction, accelerate the promotion of the Jijing UHVDC project, plan and build six external power transmission projects such as the 500 kV Xiheying-Fangshan, and implement five 500 kV, 74 220 kV, and 231 110 kV transformer and substation projects.
