Beijing Business Today reported(记者 Wu Qiyun)On March 26, 2026 Zhongguancun Forum’s International Forum on Open Science was held at the Zhongguancun International Innovation Center. At the meeting, the Open Science Project Research Group of the Beijing Municipal Institute of Science and Technology released the “Beijing Open Science Development Report” (hereinafter referred to as the “Report”). The “Report” shows that from 2019 to 2024, Beijing’s open science development index rose from 66.2 to 124.7, demonstrating a sustained and steady growth trend, with an average annual growth rate of 13.5%. Among them, the Practical Vitality dimension made the most significant contribution to the growth of the index, becoming the core driving force behind the index’s growth.

Wang Jian, deputy director of the Science and Technology Information Research Institute under the Beijing Municipal Institute of Science and Technology, said that Beijing’s open science level continues to improve, and practical vitality is accelerating its release. From 2019 to 2024, Beijing’s open science development index increased by nearly one time. The basic scale, practical vitality, supporting environment, and impact outcomes all remain at the leading level nationwide. Moreover, practical vitality has the highest contribution rate to index growth, at 42.5%.

Wang Jian also noted that globally, there is a trend of coordinated evolution and deep integration between scientific intelligence and open science. Scientific intelligence is becoming a new research paradigm and the focal point of competition among major countries. Open sharing of AI models and data can quickly gather global expertise and is giving rise to a new type of distributed open innovation model. Scientific intelligence and open science are showing a dynamic relationship of mutual enabling and coordinated evolution. Scientific intelligence provides technical tools and an efficiency revolution for open science, while open science provides data foundations, ethical norms, and value endpoints for scientific intelligence. Together, they are promoting open science in the direction of being more efficient, more accessible, and more transparent.
