On the 29th, U.S. President Trump stated that Iran has agreed to most of the content in the “15-point plan” for a ceasefire.

Trump told the media aboard Air Force One, “They agreed to most of the terms. What reason do they have to disagree?”

Trump mentioned that as a “gift” to the United States, Iran will allow 20 oil tankers loaded with oil to pass through the Strait of Hormuz starting from the morning of March 30 local time.

Trump said he is still considering whether to seize the Iranian oil export hub of Khark Island, and U.S. military forces may need to be stationed on that island long-term.

On the same day, Trump also posted on social media that it was a “significant day” for the Iranian conflict, and U.S. forces have destroyed many “long-coveted” targets within Iran. It is still unclear which specific targets he was referring to.

According to CCTV International News, Trump also insisted that he believes “the Iranian regime has completed its transition”—as he explained, this is because “the people dealing with the United States now are completely different from those in the past.”

Regarding negotiation issues, the Iranian side stated that they are currently only exchanging information with the United States through intermediaries. Furthermore, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei stated on March 29 that the suggestions submitted by the U.S. through intermediaries are “very extreme and unreasonable,” involving Iran’s fundamental rights, and do not reflect goodwill or a serious diplomatic attitude. He also stated that Iran must rely on its own capabilities to ensure security and will use all means to prevent further attacks.

According to a report from The New York Times on March 29, two U.S. military officials revealed that hundreds of U.S. special operations forces personnel have arrived in the Middle East, including Army Rangers and Navy SEAL members, aimed at providing “more options” for U.S. military actions against Iran. The report stated that these special operators have not yet been assigned specific tasks, but as professional ground combat forces, they may participate in operations related to the Strait of Hormuz, Khark Island, or Iranian nuclear facilities.

The total number of U.S. military personnel stationed in the Middle East has now exceeded 50,000, an increase of about 10,000 from normal levels. The report cited military experts saying that even with 50,000 soldiers involved, this number “seems too small” for any large-scale ground operation.

The spokesperson for the Iranian Armed Forces’ Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command previously stated that in response to recent U.S. threats of ground operations against Iran, Iranian soldiers have been “waiting a long time” for such actions, and the Iranian armed forces will “annihilate” the incoming U.S. military.
