Despite the U.S. and Iran attempting to de-escalate tensions through intermediaries, there are no signs that the conflict between the U.S. and Iran has ceased. Iran officially responded last night through intermediaries to the U.S.'s proposed 15-point ceasefire plan. According to informed sources, Iran explicitly stated in its response that the enemy’s terrorist acts must be stopped; objective conditions must be created to ensure that the conflict does not recur; a clear commitment to compensate for the damages caused by the conflict must be made and implemented; and all resistance organizations involved in the conflict across all fronts and regions must cease their actions. Iran emphasized that its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz is a natural and legitimate right that cannot be changed, and the other side must recognize and fulfill its commitments. The conditions proposed by Iran are markedly different from those presented during the second round of negotiations in Geneva. Several U.S. officials and informed sources revealed that the U.S. Department of Defense is developing a so-called “last strike” military option against Iran, which may include deploying ground forces and conducting large-scale airstrikes.
