It is reported that Netflix's global monthly active users will surpass 1 billion.
Market research firm Omdia reports that it predicts YouTube’s global user base will reach nearly 3 billion next year, while Netflix’s global monthly active users will exceed 1 billion.
Maria Rua Aguete, head of Omdia’s media and entertainment business, released this information at the Series Mania conference, showcasing how global platforms are reshaping the video consumption landscape. Netflix and YouTube have become the preferred platforms for video services among users in France, leading traditional broadcasting and pay-TV platforms. Among them, Netflix ranks first with an 18% share, while YouTube comes in second with 12%.
As for the UK market, the video ecosystem presents a relatively balanced landscape between global platforms and local players. In terms of market share, Netflix stands at 17%, Sky at 15%, and YouTube at 9%, reflecting that high-end pay-TV still maintains an important position in the streaming media era.
