Ambulance Strike in Southern Lebanon Leaves Medic Dead

(MENAFN) An airstrike carried out by an Israeli drone in southern Lebanon resulted in the death of a medical worker and injuries to four others, according to reports citing Lebanese authorities.

The incident occurred in the town of Kfar Tebnit in Nabatieh province, where an unmanned aerial vehicle struck an ambulance.

Health officials confirmed that one medic was killed in the attack, while four individuals sustained injuries.

In an official statement, the Health Ministry condemned the incident, saying it breached international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, and describing it as a “war crime.”

The ministry also indicated that the number of healthcare workers killed since the start of Israeli military operations in Lebanon on March 2 has risen to 42.

Israeli forces have continued conducting airstrikes and have launched a ground campaign in southern Lebanon following cross-border hostilities involving Hezbollah earlier that month.

These developments are unfolding against the backdrop of broader regional escalation, which intensified after the United States and Israel began coordinated military operations against Iran on Feb. 28, with reported fatalities exceeding 1,340, including senior figures such as Ali Khamenei.

Iran has since carried out retaliatory attacks using drones and missiles targeting Israel as well as neighboring countries including Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf states hosting US military installations. The ongoing exchanges have led to casualties, infrastructure damage, and wider disruptions impacting global markets and aviation.
