Man "went to buy a house with 68,000 cash," Beijing police: Can you tell the truth?
“You see this way of packing money, I’ve only seen it in crime movies!” Recently, the Haidian police in Beijing quickly responded to a precise warning and successfully intercepted a cash delivery telecom fraud disguised as “order brushing rebate.” When confronted by the police, the victim actually defended the scammer, claiming he was carrying 68,000 yuan in cash to buy a house.
Recently, the police at the Northwest Wang Police Station of the Haidian Branch of the Beijing Public Security Bureau received a warning about a man who was suspected of being a victim of telecom fraud. At that time, he was carrying 68,000 yuan in cash and heading to a bus station to hand it over to a stranger.
At first, when he saw the suddenly arriving police, Mr. Zhang was somewhat resistant and unwilling to cooperate. It was only after the police continuously guided and questioned him that he finally revealed the truth.
It turned out that Mr. Zhang had been lured by a stranger online to participate in a network order brushing scheme. The other party claimed that as long as he followed the instructions, he could receive high returns.
Fortunately, the police intercepted him in time, allowing Mr. Zhang to avoid a loss of 68,000 yuan.
The police remind: They urge the general public not to click on unfamiliar links online or download anything. Do not believe in illegal activities such as order brushing rebates or investment and financial management. If you fall victim to investment fraud, report it to the police immediately.
