Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with BASF Group Executive Board Chairman Martin Brudermüller
On March 22, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with Kai Li, Chairman of the Executive Board of BASF Group. The two sides exchanged views on China-EU economic and trade relations, BASF’s operations and development in China, and other topics. Wang Wentao emphasized that China attaches great importance to economic and trade cooperation with Germany and Europe. Currently, unilateralism and protectionism are impacting the international trade order. China and Europe should strengthen dialogue and communication, firmly uphold free trade and the multilateral trading system centered on the World Trade Organization, and enhance certainty for the development of China-EU economic and trade relations. Wang Wentao stated that over the past 40 years, BASF’s investment and development in China have achieved mutual success and growth, realizing mutual benefits and win-win results. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China will unswervingly expand high-level opening-up, lead high-quality development through technological innovation and new productive forces, and create a larger market. China welcomes foreign-invested enterprises like BASF to continue investing in China, play a good bridging role, and help China and Germany, China and Europe, expand emerging industry markets and jointly grow the economic and trade cooperation pie. Kai Li expressed that BASF is confident in China’s economic development prospects, will better seize opportunities for sustainable and green development in China, continue to expand investment in China, and promote stable development of China-Germany and China-Europe economic and trade relations.
