Abstract generation in progress

On March 16, the London Metal Exchange (LME) suspended trading of copper, zinc, aluminum, and other contracts. The LME responded on the 17th, stating that its main electronic matching engine experienced a failure at 14:43, leading to a technical pause in electronic trading. During this period, the on-site inter-market operations remained正常. The LME indicated that although all closing prices were generated according to standard procedures, the system failure affected market participants’ ability to hedge at those prices, thus declaring an “interruption event.” The electronic market subsequently resumed at 17:30 on the backup matching engine after the closing price generation process was completed, and trading is expected to continue normally until 19:00.
