Middle East Situation | Iran's Foreign Ministry: No Negotiations with the US, Will Continue to Exercise Right to Self-Defense
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bagheri stated that Iran has not engaged in negotiations with the United States, but has received multiple requests from other countries regarding mediation talks and has responded accordingly. Iran will continue to exercise its right to self-defense.
He added that Iran fully understands the concerns of relevant countries about the situation and their willingness to de-escalate, but the US and Israel are still actively attacking Iran. Under these circumstances, all statements from the US and Israel regarding negotiations and diplomatic talks are untrustworthy.
Bagheri pointed out that the US is using airspace, military bases, and logistical facilities of Persian Gulf countries to strike Iran, dragging these countries into war. He called on these nations to refuse to allow the US and Israel to use their territories to attack Iran, and emphasized that Iran has no intention of provoking conflicts with its neighbors.
No Allowance for Trump to Decide When the War Ends
Iranian state television quoted an unnamed senior Iranian political-security official as saying that Iran will end the war based on its own timeline and once its conditions are met, and will not allow President Trump to decide when the war ends.
The official stated that Iran’s conditions include the cessation of hostile acts; establishing effective mechanisms to prevent future wars; clearly defining war damages and ensuring compensation; ending military operations on all fronts, including stopping attacks against resistance groups; and recognizing Iran’s legitimate rights to exercise sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
