On March 4th, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a routine press conference. A reporter asked whether the spokesperson could introduce the Chinese government’s efforts to protect Chinese citizens in Iran and neighboring countries. Are there any further arrangements? Mao Ning stated that since the security situation in Iran has become tense, China has repeatedly lodged protests with relevant parties, demanding that all sides ensure the safety of Chinese citizens in Iran and surrounding countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chinese embassies and consulates in relevant countries have issued multiple alerts and carried out various activities, urging and assisting Chinese citizens in Iran to evacuate as soon as possible and advising Chinese citizens in other countries to stay safe. Chinese embassies and consulates in Iran and neighboring countries have worked around the clock to assist multiple groups of Chinese citizens in evacuating. After the outbreak of hostilities, more than 470 Chinese citizens have been safely evacuated under the organization of Chinese embassies and consulates in Iran. (The Paper)
