UBS Securities Meng Lei: Short-term "De-risking" May Be Coming to an End
People’s Financial News, March 24 — How will short-term geopolitical risks affect the A-share market? Meng Lei, a China equity strategist at UBS Securities, pointed out that from a macro perspective, China’s dependence on oil and natural gas is relatively low compared to major global economies. In terms of indices, the recent surge in oil prices appears to have limited impact on the main A-share indices. The implied volatility of major A-share indices has also been lower than during the global trade conflict escalation in April 2025 and other major overseas indices, suggesting that the short-term “de-risking” phase may be nearing its end.
