According to Bitcoin News, 500 BTC from Irish drug dealer Clifton Collins's cache of 6000 bitcoins—previously thought to be permanently lost—moved on-chain after remaining dormant for nearly 10 years. Collins had previously claimed to have written the private keys on paper and hidden them in a fishing rod case at a rental property in Galway, Ireland. After his arrest in 2017, the house was cleaned and his belongings were sent to a landfill. Despite an Irish court's earlier ruling to confiscate the funds as proceeds of crime, both authorities and Collins himself believed the fortune was irretrievable due to the lost private keys.
