Tesla posted on social platform X titled “TERAFAB: The Next Step Toward Galactic Civilization,” mentioning, “In partnership with SpaceX and AI company xAI, we are building the largest chip manufacturing plant in history (1 terawatt annual capacity), integrating logic chips, memory chips, and advanced packaging technology. To maximize solar energy utilization, we need to launch 100 million tons of equipment into space each year to capture solar energy.”

Tesla stated, “This requires ultra-large-scale deployment: the capability to launch millions of tons of supplies into orbit; solar-powered AI satellites; and millions of Tesla Megabot robots involved in construction. All these devices require chips: just Megabot robots need 100 to 200 gigawatts of chips, and the solar AI satellites need terawatt-level chip supplies.”

Tesla said, “This demand far exceeds the total capacity of all current global chip manufacturers, and even by 2030 (based on capacity growth forecasts), it will not be enough. We are building a trillion-dollar factory to bridge the gap between current chip capacity and future demand—a future belonging to interstellar civilization.”

Previously, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the Terafab project aims to achieve trillion-watt-level computing power annually, with xAI, Tesla, and SpaceX participating.
