Guangming Daily Beijing, March 21 — Reporter Zhang Yi reports that on March 20, the State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company announced that during the first quarter of this year, Beijing’s power grid construction has accelerated significantly, with 83 power grid infrastructure projects progressing in full swing. This effort aims to support the development of a strong energy nation and contribute to the high-quality start of the capital’s 14th Five-Year Plan.

By Yanqi Lake, machinery roars. Construction is in full swing on the Beijing Huairou Science City 500 kV transmission and transformation project. Scheduled for completion by the end of this year, it will be Beijing’s first indoor, steel-structured 500 kV hub substation. Focusing on Huairou Science City, a core area for national strategic scientific and technological innovation, State Grid Beijing is accelerating the high-quality construction of multiple supporting power grid projects. Among them, the Chengezhuang 110 kV transmission and transformation project, as Beijing’s first fully autonomous and controllable new-generation substation, will demonstrate advanced technologies such as one-click control and intelligent patrols upon commissioning, providing a practical platform for new power system development.

In addition, the Beijing Fangshan 500 kV substation capacity expansion project has fully entered construction, with plans to complete the upgrade within the year, significantly enhancing the power supply capacity in southwest Beijing. The Houjie 220 kV transmission and transformation project in Chaoyang District is scheduled for completion and commissioning in 2027, providing reliable power support for areas such as the Fourth Embassy District and Jinzhan International Cooperation Service Area.

By 2026, State Grid Beijing Electric Power will coordinate the advancement of 111 transmission and transformation projects, including the 500 kV Fengtai and 220 kV Zhizao projects. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the company will accelerate the development of the Jijing ultra-high-voltage direct current project, plan and build six external power receiving channels such as the 500 kV Xiheying-Fangshan line, and implement five 500 kV, 74 220 kV, and 231 110 kV transmission and transformation projects.
