Foreign Media: Volkswagen CEO Says German Automotive Industry Can Learn from China's Rigorous Industrial Planning

According to Reuters, Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume stated in an interview published by German media on the 22nd that the German automotive industry can learn from China’s rigorous industrial planning. The report said that Blume made this statement as the German automotive giant is pushing forward with a deep restructuring to stay competitive. Blume also mentioned that Volkswagen faces fierce competition in the Chinese market, including “more than 150 competitors and strong innovation momentum.” Additionally, Bloomberg reported that Blume said in the interview that even if order backlogs increase, Volkswagen will continue its restructuring process, “the practice of researching, manufacturing, and exporting cars in Germany is no longer feasible because changes are happening worldwide.” (Global Times)
