SoftBank Plans to Build a $500 Billion Mega AI Data Center in Ohio, USA

SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son announced on March 20th local time that SoftBank Group is planning to build a large-scale data center infrastructure project in Ohio, USA, with an investment of $500 billion in this single project. SoftBank intends to construct the AI computing complex on the site of a former uranium enrichment facility owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. The facility will have a power capacity of up to 10 gigawatts, with the first phase covering 800 megawatts of electricity, costing between $30 billion and $40 billion, and expected to be completed by early 2028. The project will utilize approximately $33 billion worth of gas-fired power generation, which will be installed by the end of this decade. (Jiemian News)
