People’s Financial News, March 22 — March 22 marks the 34th “World Water Day” and the 39th “China Water Week” which are being observed simultaneously. On that day, during the “Water Conservation China Tour · Hefei, Anhui” promotional event in 2026, it was reported that by 2025, China’s unconventional water use had exceeded 25 billion cubic meters. Unconventional water sources refer to recycled water, rainwater collected and stored, seawater and desalinated seawater, mine (well) water, and brackish water that can be utilized after treatment or under certain conditions. Developing and utilizing unconventional water sources play a vital role in increasing water supply, reducing pollution, optimizing water resource allocation, and improving water use efficiency. These are essential for high-quality development. (Xinhua News Agency)
