(MENAFN) Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan stated early Thursday that Iran is misjudging the situation if it assumes Gulf countries lack the ability to respond to its actions.

He argued that Iranian strikes on Gulf states will not yield any benefits for Tehran and will instead contribute to further diplomatic and political isolation.

He also noted that confidence in relations with Iran has deteriorated significantly due to what he described as repeated attacks on Gulf nations and breaches of the principles of good neighborliness.

Prince Faisal further accused Iran of following a strategy of coercion to achieve its regional goals.

He added that member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council are coordinating efforts to address Iranian actions, alleging that Iran targeted civilian locations in Gulf countries at the beginning of the conflict.

Reports indicate that tensions across the Middle East have escalated since the United States and Israel launched a joint military offensive against Iran on February 28, which has resulted in approximately 1,300 deaths, including senior figures.

In response, Iran has carried out drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military assets.
