DTE Energy plans to request a new electric rate increase in April 2026, which would take effect in 2027, to cover investments aimed at improving power reliability. This announcement comes shortly after the Michigan Public Service Commission approved a $242 million rate hike for DTE in February 2026, marking the utility’s fourth rate increase in five years. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has opposed DTE’s consistent rate hike requests, citing concerns about the financial burden on ratepayers amidst DTE’s record profits and the state’s consideration of new data centers.
