Fast Technology, March 11 — During the 2026 National People’s Congress, Deputy Zhang Mingzhu, Chairwoman of Gree Electric Appliances, spoke out on the governance of online rumors.

Zhang Mingzhu stated: I am the primary victim, and those spreading rumors will eventually face punishment.

In her view, laws will be used to regulate online rumors. “When you encounter these bullies and they seek to profit by gaining traffic, they will eventually be punished. I believe that with new circumstances and changes, legal measures will be used to address this social issue.”

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Zhang Mingzhu has offered advice on online chaos.

During the 2024 Two Sessions, Zhang Mingzhu said: Online defamation, especially behaviors like spreading rumors about women, is when some people vent their conjectures and fantasies online. This behavior damages the online environment and transmits negative energy. Freedom of speech online must be governed by law and regulations; chaos cannot be tolerated.

She also pointed out, “The country is now cracking down on online violence and defamation according to law. I believe that managing the online space is very necessary and requires legal protection. Prosecutors should also strengthen efforts to punish such crimes, helping to create a clean and safe online environment.”

During the 2025 Two Sessions, Zhang Mingzhu further stated that ‘online violence is a new problem arising in social development.’ She also submitted suggestions to strengthen the comprehensive governance system for online rumors and violence.
