OpenAI and Amazon Sign Agreement to Provide Artificial Intelligence Services to the U.S. Government

Viewpoint Network News: On March 17, OpenAI signed a new contract with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide artificial intelligence services to U.S. government personnel, covering both classified and unclassified work.

The collaboration aims to support OpenAI in providing assistance to agencies such as the U.S. Department of Defense, with AWS sales teams promoting its products to other government clients.

According to reports, AWS is already a major cloud service provider for several U.S. government agencies. Under the agreement, OpenAI will share revenue with AWS from government business.

Sources say that providing unclassified services to some civilian agencies requires a Microsoft license exemption, while agencies handling classified work do not need this exemption.
