Xinhua News Agency, Paris, February 18 (Reporter Sun Yi) The French Ministry of Economy and Finance issued a statement on the 18th stating that the French bank account national database was recently accessed illegally, involving approximately 1.2 million accounts.

The statement said that the database contains information related to bank account numbers, account holder identities, and addresses. The French Public Finance Office, which manages this database, found through an investigation that since the end of January 2026, “malicious actors” had gained unauthorized access to the database by tampering with an official’s access credentials.

The statement said that after the incident occurred, relevant departments immediately took measures to restrict access to block the attack and prevent further data leakage. Currently, relevant departments are working hard to repair the system and plan to notify affected users within the next few days.

The statement also mentioned that the IT team of the French Public Finance Office is collaborating with relevant departments to handle the incident.
