Google’s parent company is significantly expanding its presence in South Asia. According to reports from media sources, Alphabet is planning an unprecedented deployment in India, marking a decisive turning point in its international development strategy.
Bangalore Establishes Itself as the New Operational Hub
Bangalore, recognized as India’s tech epicenter, will host this major expansion. Alphabet has already secured several office buildings within Elm Vibe City, a real estate development located in the prestigious Whitefield tech corridor. This area, covering an impressive 2.4 million square feet, is one of the most dynamic hubs in India’s IT sector.
A Massive Real Estate Project
The deployment plan involves three phases of occupancy. The first building will open to Alphabet teams in the coming months, marking the start of a major transformation. The two additional structures, for which Alphabet has already negotiated acquisition rights, are expected to be completed next year.
If Alphabet fully utilizes these new spaces, the Indian campus could host up to 20,000 new employees. This figure is particularly significant as it would far exceed the company’s current workforce in India, estimated at around 14,000 people. For comparison, Alphabet’s global workforce currently stands at approximately 190,000 employees.
Strategic Implications of a Major Expansion
This substantial growth reflects the increasing importance the company places on the Indian market. Alphabet is positioning its Indian operations as a central element of its overall architecture, strengthening the presence of the California tech ecosystem in South Asia.
