Sei Network plans to launch the Giga upgrade in Q1 2026, marking a significant architectural overhaul. The upgrade introduces the Autobahn consensus protocol, an asynchronous execution model, and a brand-new EVM client design, aiming for a throughput of 5 Giga gas per second, approximately 200,000-250,000 TPS, with response latency controlled below sub-second levels (currently around 400ms).

The performance improvements are quite substantial—achieving a 50x increase in throughput and about a 15x boost in TPS.
