By the end of 2024, I scheduled a meeting with the head of an Asian business for a major project. Before meeting offline in Shenzhen, the assistant provided some feedback. Later, I realized that the feedback was clearly distorted. But in fact, I had already decided to get deeply involved as early as the 19th, before the official contact.

What does this imply? The longer the information chain, the more distorted the information becomes. Sometimes, you can't rely too much on reports from intermediate links—you need to judge for yourself and get actual contact. Many times, our decision-making is guided by incorrect information leading us in the wrong direction. Instead of waiting for perfect intelligence, it's better to establish your own cognitive framework early on.

Information asymmetry is truly incredible. intermediaries pass it from one to ten, ten to a hundred, and it becomes completely distorted. In the end, you still have to go to the front line yourself to see it firsthand.

The information gap is really incredible; even the assistant layer can add drama. It's better to go directly to the source and avoid the middleman's assumptions.

The middle link is really an information black hole. Luckily, you've seen through it long ago. Decentralization should start from here. Don't trust any hearsay too much. Distorted feedback from assistants is a minor issue; the key is that you figured it out yourself long ago. That's why I never wait for a complete report. A three-minute face-to-face meeting beats a week of emails. Information gaps are created this way. The longer the chain, the more distortion there is. Building a cognitive framework early is the truth. It's more valuable than perfect intelligence.

The longer the information chain, the more distortion there is, and I have deep experience with this. Still, you have to trust your own intuition and not listen too much to the middlemen's nonsense.

That assistant stuff... still too inexperienced, once the information passes through one hand, it all gets distorted.
