How important is the security of Bitcoin private keys? Just look at this example.
F2Pool co-founder Wang Chun recently shared his experience. Last year, he suspected that his private key might have been compromised, but he wasn't entirely sure. To verify whether the address was truly controlled by hackers, he made a bold decision — to transfer 500 BTC to that suspicious address for testing.
And the result? The hacker's reaction was quite interesting. The uninvited guest only transferred away 490 BTC, leaving Wang Chun with 10 BTC. In his own words, "The hacker's move was really 'generous,' at least enough to keep me afloat."
Behind this case, there are actually two issues: one is the seriousness of private key management, and the other is that even if stolen, one can confirm the extent of the loss through clever methods. Some time ago, someone lost 50 million USDT due to phishing, and compared to that, Wang Chun's emergency response approach is indeed worth learning from.
