Kimbal Musk lashes out at Trump's tariff policy
Elon’s younger brother has launched harsh criticism against the former president's economic strategy, labeling his tariffs as a “permanent structural tax” that directly burdens American citizens. In my opinion, he is right when he points out that Trump could go down in history as the leader with the highest tax burden in recent generations.
The most ironic thing is that, even if these tariffs achieved their supposed goal of repatriating jobs, prices would still be sky-high. Why? Because the US has long ceased to be a country specialized in manufacturing. The reality is that these tariffs are a simplistic solution to a much more complex structural problem.
Kimbal is not just anyone in the business world. In addition to leading The Kitchen, he is part of the board of Tesla and has held significant positions at SpaceX and Chipotle. His experience as a co-founder and investor in tech and food startups such as Square Roots and Nova Sky Stories gives him some authority to comment on economic policies.
I wonder if his brother Elon, with his recent rapprochement to Trump, shares these criticisms or if we are facing another family division over political issues.
